KOF 99 Arcade Run - Psycho Soldier Team 1/3

Difficulty is (foolishly) set to 6. The King Of Fighters 99 is the 6th game in the series and the beginning of the 2nd arc in the series, the NESTS Chronicles. Also the Introduction of the new Protagonist K' along with Maxima, Whip, Jhun Hoon, Li Xiangfei and (Ugh..) Bao. This KOF added new gameplay with the introduction of the striker system in which you can call in an ally to attack your enemies for you. Also the new Dash dodge (Which sucks) and the Counter and Armor system. The EX system was removed completely in this installment. KOF 99 was okay. Not my favorite but not bad either. The roster is much smaller then 98 but also the return of Kasumi from 96. In this KOF, Chin got the outfit he kept up until 2002. Also This is the last KOF before Athena's wardrobe malfunction. OH! And let me get this out of the way right now. I HATE BAO with ALL my heart. He and K9999 are my least favorite characters in the entire KOF series. But I'll talk about K9999 later. Bao is as an annoying little boy with a stupid hat. I hate fighting him, I hate being him, I hate LOOKING at him and I hate hearing him. Of all the things to come up with. They had to add a stupid little boy to the team. I'm all for kids owning with the adults in fighting games, but you don't have to make the kid an annoying little dork in the process. I'll say now that there is absolutely NO Bao gameplay in this playthrough. But I have to admit, he's a pretty great striker. So he serves his purpose just fine. As for the Psycho's gameplay, Athena lost her psycho grab ability and it was replaced with the "Psycho Shoot" attack. Chin got a new fire attack but was still toned down some more. Kensou was heavily modified. In terms of gameplay, he's at his weakest here. His moves have low priority, His projectile has been replaced with a dash punch that has some nasty lag time, and his Senki Hakkei has been replaced with the "Choryuu Renken" A super with a ridiculous startup time, very few invincibility frames and surpisingly low priority. It'll almost ALWAYS be blocked, but if it actually does hit, it looks pretty cool. Either way, The Kensou here is the weakest in the entire series both canonicallty and in terms of gameplay. This would have been a great run, but there were some nasty problems that prevented such. The sound cripple is at a high mimimum. The problem lies in lag and delays. Some of the battles have so many dropped frames that you barely even see the battle. The very first battle has the most delay in the whole playthrough. But other then that, it's not too bad.
