The conflict, which has all but destroyed this land, and which has seen an estimated thirty thousand of its civilians killed, millions made homeless, and has left a legacy of anarchy and religious division. For the first time, intelligence analyst, Andrew Wilkie recounts in detail the events leading to his decision to blow the whistle on the intelligence fraud. In a moving interview, Wilkie breaks his silence on how he prepared to resign and blow the whistle as loudly as one man could on Australia's involvement in the US intelligence fraud. His story is joined by Greg Thielman, a thirty five year career intelligence officer inside the United States Government. Head of Intelligence for the US State Department, and personal intelligence adviser to US Secretary of State Colin Powell, he tells his personal story of the "defrauding of the American people". In the documentary, Thielman calls for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, for his role in the decision to invade Iraq. There were many in the intelligence community Thielman says, who spoke the truth to those in power. But they were not listened to. The decision to invade Iraq was a done deal. Today the American death toll in Iraq stands at nearly two thousand. No-one knows exactly how many Iraqis have died, but some international observers put the figure at close to thirty thousand. American Government expenditure on the war in Iraq is put at one hundred and fifty billion dollars, with another fifty billion dollars committed. Today, one hundred and fifty thousand US troops are in Iraq, with the number climbing to a peak of one hundred and seventy thousand men and women. After several years of hunting, no weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq. Iraq's neighbours have joined in the condemnation of the continued occupation of Iraq by American and allied troops. A solid, thorough, and frankly terrifying account of the road to war.
